Yukito Ara, a singer from Shiraho in the Yaeyama Islands of Okinawa, has announced the 36th edition of his annual “Ichigobin Live.”
“Ichigobin Live,” presented by Yukito Ara, began on June 23, 1991.
The date marks Okinawa Memorial Day, commemorating the end of organized combat in the Battle of Okinawa during World War II.
The event was created with a simple yet meaningful idea:
to spend this special day quietly reflecting on peace while enjoying Ara’s music and a cup of awamori, Okinawa’s traditional distilled spirit.
Today, the world continues to face uncertainty. On February 28, war reportedly broke out involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Conflicts between Ukraine and Russia, tensions in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and unstable situations in Gaza and Venezuela all contribute to an uneasy global atmosphere.
Perhaps it is precisely in such uncertain times that music and culture resonate more deeply with people’s hearts, offering comfort and reflection.
