From the shelter, I went to the back alleys to meet new people.

Sakurazaka ASYLUM" began with an event called "Asylum in the Wilderness" in October 2007.

The "Asylum" (temporary refuge) for those of us standing in the wilderness of the modern world is music, film, painting, words, and all other forms of expression. That is the idea behind this project. I have an intuitive feeling that music and culture can be a stronghold for all people, even if they are not artists. Thirteen years have passed, and it continues to exist as "home" at the center of our lives.

Today, in the midst of the Corona disaster, the landscape of the world seen from Okinawa seems to be a wilderness as far as the eye can see. In such a situation, we decided to take a new step out of the asylum and into the lane. A back alley that is not a main street. New music and cultural movements always start in such places. It is in these situations that new cultures can sprout. Now that everything has stopped, shouldn't we take a step forward to seek new encounters? That's what I thought.

Music Lane Festival Okinawa 2021" is the collective name for "Sakurazaka ASYLUM", "Music Lane Koza", and "Trans Asia Music Meeting". With the same stance as before, we will transmit music and culture as a stronghold and continue to search for new movements.

This time, the event will be held at the Corona Peril. We are sure that this event will cause unprecedented inconvenience to the visitors and artists. We will do our best to reduce the burden on those who come to the event and provide an environment where they can enjoy the music.
